Picornaviruses are a family of small, single-(positive) stranded (their
genomic RNA can also be messenger RNA) RNA viruses. The major groups
within the family include enteroviruses (poliovirus, coxsackieviruses and
echoviruses), rhinoviruses and cardioviruses (mostly animal viruses).
