This varies widely depending on the specific antibiotic, ranging from 
inhibition of cell wall synthesis (e.g. pennicilins) to inhibition of RNA
synthesis (Actinomycin D) to the blocking bacterial ribosome function 
(streptomycin, tetracycline, etc.) to interfering with ion transport 
(gramicidin A).
