Dear netters!

I am about to finish my 2-years appointment as a postdoctoral fellow
at University of California, Irvine (November, 1996).
My current research project is concerning early immune response to
C.trachomatis infection. Firstly, we studied role of neutrophils in
early steps of anti-Chlamydia infection, depleting NF with
anti-granulocyte mAb ( data presented at ASM meeting, New Orlean,
May, 1996, paper submitted to "Infection and Immunity"). Secondly,
we proved the role of nitric oxide in protection against Chlamydia
infection using NO-inhibitors ( one paper is almost finished, other -
about kinetics of NOS-expression in connection with other enzymes of
oxidative metabolism-in preparation ). Thirdly, we are currently looking
for the role of IL-12 in genital chlamydial infection ( results will
present at 3rd Chlamydial Meeting this year, paper in preparation).
    I am looking for possibility to use my scientific background and
knowledge as a postdoctoral/researcher in academy or industry.

 My highlights:

-Medical University (Medical Biochemistry), Ph.D. in Immunology(Moscow)
 postdoctoral training in Europe (West Germany) and USA ( Univ. of
California), fluent English and some German ( reading without
dictionary; communicative skills);
-extensive training in immunology ( T- and B-cell evaluation in vitro;
haemopoetic progenitors, Jerne, DTH etc.); immunochemistry ( western
blotting, ELISA ), maintenance of cell lines, serum-free culturing of
hybridomes, molecular biology methods (cloning, Northern, Southern, PCR,
manual sequencing), wide experience with pathogenic microorganisms
(Chlamydia, Yersinia, Bordetella etc.), affinity chromatography,
gel-filtration, light microscopy, handling of small animals (i/v
injections, retroorbital bleeding etc.);
- PC-compatible and MAC computers, word-processors, statistical and
graphical programms, spreadsheets, free with Internet and World Web;
(scientific databases and sites);
-willing to work hardly as a part of a good scientific team or
independently;
-no geographical preferences;
-A MUST (if academy): possibility to write together (or independently)
with principal investigator scientific proposals;

KEY WORDS: INFLAMMATION; PHAGOCYTE; NITRIC OXIDE; INFECTION; EARLY
           IMMUNE RESPONSE; AUTOIMMUNITY and, and...

Thank you for consideration, CV and recommendations will provided upon
request.
        Sincerely yours,
                      Natalie Barteneva, UCI
