Try using PE-labeled antibodies. I haven't had an experience in tussue
staining, but I've noticed that cells usually have much less
autofluoresence in red spectra and using PE-labeled antibodies with
flow-cytometry I was able to detect cells expressing low levels of an
antigen, while FITC couldn't provide such sensitivity. So it's likely
that PE-antibodies could work better than FITC-Ab in tussiue staining as
well.
