It has been a while since I have prepared sites for surgery in mice,
but you have the right idea. Some hints I could offer include: Use
light metofane anesthesia to quiet the mice; unless you have an
extra pair of hands to hold the mice. I have not used a trimmer. I
first would use scissors to trim the hair as close to the body as
possible. Then I would apply a light coating of Neet and let it sit
for a few minutes. You may need to make a nose cone apparatus for
keeping the mice lightly anesthetized. Then I would use new razor
blade and gently shave the neet away. I would then clean the area
with copious amounts of water to remove any traces of Neet (it is
very irritating). If you have a lot of mice to operate on, you can
perform the hair removal 1-2 days before surgery which will greatly
speed up your treatment times. Good luck.
