Im investigating the magnesium status of patients with the systemic
inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). Is magnesium utilised during an
inflammatory response and would this utilisation result in
hypomagnaseamia. Im especialy interested in the neutrophil/free oxygen
radical response. I know divalent cations such as magnesium are utilised
to upregulate adhesion molecules, does this reaction render these cations
unavailable.Im looking for any reaction that would result in generalised
or tissue-localised decreased magnesium levels. Any guidance, however
vague, is appreciated.
