7TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON DIGESTIVE PHYSIOLOGY IN THE PIG
May 26-27-28, 1997
SAINT MALO, FRANCE
The aim of this International Symposium, held every 3 years, is to confront
new area of knowledge related to Digestive Physiology in the Pig. The
Symposium is open to every individual with a special interest in this ever
growing field. Digestive Physiology of the Pig as a model for biomedical
research or as a target for pig nutrition are aspects that will be equally
presented during the Symposium.
The Symposium is organized in plenary sessions, workshops and oral vs poster
communications.
Plenary sessions are designed around state of the art with introductory
lectures and oral communications closely related to the sessions main topic.
The aim of this feature is to put the scientific advances into perspective and
to enhance integration between investigators working in the biomedical field
and in pig nutrition. The pig as an animal model, relationship between enteric
nervous system and gut immunology, age related adaptations of the digestive
tract, and inter-organs nutrient fluxes are the hot topics selected by the
steering Committee for this Symposium.
More controversial subjects have been grouped into five workshops with the
ultimate goal of constructive interaction between researchers in the field.
The selected topics for workshops are: biosensors suitable for the Pig, use of
non radioactive isotopes, growth promoting substances, in vivo vs in vitro
digestibility. Oral communications are especially welcome during workshops to
promote discussions and/or recommendations.
A large time schedule will be dedicated to 49 oral or 100 poster
communications. All the communications selected by the organizing Committee
will be published in the Symposium Proceedings.
