Primary Biliary Cirrhosis

My wife has been diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC). She has
been undergoing treatment by Dr. Kaplan at the NE School of Medicine in
Boston for two years now. Her blood work has improved greatly, returning
to normal values in that time. She is in early stage 2 and is taking
colchizine and actigal for the condition. I am interested in any
information about the illness, particularly regarding PBC as an
autoimmune disease. I heard a news blurb last Saturday that some
researcher at (I believe) Duke University had accidently identified an
antibody treatment for some autoimmune diseases while doing research on a
viral cause for diabetese melitus. ANY information would be greatly
appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!
Robert Branch
