NEED YOUR HELP! I'm researching the origins of the detection of the
Hepatitis C virus in the blood supply.
I recall that there was a blood test to detect NON-A NON-B (Hep C) way
back in the 70's. Personally, in 1978 I had a Hep Profile done, which
included HepA, HepB, and HepNonA-NonB. So I believe that testing for
the non-a non-b virus must have been available for at least a few years
before.
Can anyone clue me in on the name of that tests used, year(s) it was
made available commercially for general use, who manufacturered
the reagents, how reliable it was, how expensive it was to perform?
