Does anyone know the signal for "pre-CTL" cells to become a
fully functionable cytolytic CTL cell???
Pre-CTL cells are cells that have already been committed to the CTL cell
line. However, they do not yet have cytolytic capabilities. I'm
wondering what the signal is for them to be fully differentiated and
fully functionable. I think that the explonation is probably the
immunology catch-all "cytokine interaction," but if so, does anyone know
what kind of cytokines and from what kind of T cells they come from?

P.S.- This is not a question on an exam or for a paper, but rather a
burning question which has been in my head while taking an upper division
immunology course. We (the class) have been given the opportunity to
pose these questions to a chatline. I apoligize if we have been
"bombarding" your chatline with questions, but I'm sure if there are any
questions we could help anyone with, either now or in the future when we
become successful biologists, we'd be more than happy to help you.
To Mr.Jeffrey Jackson - Thank you for your help and I'm sure that
everyone, including our professor, is flattered by your compliment that
we all sound like TAs with our intelligent burning questions. Canisius
College has an outstanding biology department and it is this kind of
critical thinking and problem solving skills, that make our graduates
successful scientists.
