I just went over and had a look at this homepage. The device claims to
destroy microorganisms and pollutants by corona discharge.
As this corona discharge is powered by a 9 volt battery this seems a
rather bold claim. A diagram describes "internal particle destruction by
molecular impact decomposition": Isaac Newton would be intrigued by that
one.
The device then directs "70 trillion ions per second" at your face (I
suppose you wear it round your neck).
Well, you can remove dust and suspended particles from air using an
electrostatic field, and no doubt a whopping great corona discharge
kills bacteria. But if you are worried about airborne germs you would be
better off spending your $99.96 on a supply of disposable filter masks.
Come to think of it, your nose fulfils exactly that function.
