Is 6.5 kDa big enough?

Sure, that should be large enough.  The minimum is usually 50-60
residues for peptides.  I think it will work fine (but of course, you'll
never know until you do it :-).  What is your adjuvant?  Remember,
mammals have adverse reactions to oil-based adjuvants.  If you're going
to sacrifice the bunny after getting your Ab, then you'll be fine using
Freund's.  Check with your university's Animal Care Committee to find
out what guidlines (restrictions) they have.
