Dear Colleagues,

A PhD student position is available in our laboratory at the Hematology
Division of the CHUV (Lausanne, Switzerland). The candidate should be highly
motivated and possess strong backgrounds in molecular and cellular biology.
The project will be part of more general studies aimed at clarifying
relevance and characteristics of particular T cell subpopulations involved
in the development of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

Specifically, the student will:
1.- Identify and compare the T cell receptors expressed by T cell clones
accumulating in individual BXSB mice, which spontaneously develop systemic
lupus erythematosus.
2.- Define the evolution kinetics and cell subset distribution of such T
cell clones.
3.- Isolate in vitro some of these T cell clones and characterize their
phenotype and antigen specificity.

Specialized on the analysis of T cell receptor repertoire alterations
characterizing mouse and human immune and autoimmune responses, our
laboratory disposes of all molecular tools necessary for the realization of
the study and will provide a stimulating and interacting milieu in which the
candidate's intellectual and technical skills will have the opportunity to
further develop and strengthen. Salary will be based on standards of the
Swiss National Science Foundation, which is financing the project.

We would be grateful if you could make this notice known to suitable
candidates or to collaborators within your scientific community.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Sincerely,

Roberto Baccalà, Ph.D.
