THREE ASSISTANT PROFESSORSHIPS
DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES
ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY

Three tenure-track ASSISTANT PROFESSORSHIPS are available beginning
August 1999:
CELL BIOLOGIST with research interests in fundamental aspects of
cellular function.
Teaching responsibilities will include an advanced graduate course in
cell biology and an
undergraduate course in cell biology or physiology. (Dr. David Borst,
Chair).
IMMUNOLOGIST with research interests in contemporary problems in
immunology.
Teaching responsibilities will include participation in the
undergraduate program and
developing undergraduate and graduate courses in immunology. (Dr.
Anthony Otsuka, Chair).
EUKARYOTIC MOLECULAR GENETICIST with research interests in the
molecular
genetics of a eukaryotic model organism. Specialization may include
gene regulation,
development, genomics or other related areas. Teaching responsibilities
include an
introductory genetics course for biology majors and an advanced graduate
course in
molecular genetics. (Dr. Alan Katz, Chair).
The successful applicants will be expected to develop independent,
high-quality, and extramurally funded research programs and to
contribute to
the training of Ph.D. and Master's students. Postdoctoral experience
preferred.
It is expected that the new hires will participate in the proposed
Biotechnology
Master’s Sequence. Additional information can be obtained at
