Could anyone answer a question for me about poxvirus structure? I've
been reading about how stable these viruses are (survive
dessication, etc.) and I have been looking at some of the gorgeous
internet images of them. Could one necessarily predict this
environmental stability from their large size and the complexity of those
interdigitated fibrils on the surface of the particles? (I'm again in the
process of offering vaccinia vaccine to some researchers, and we are
having a spirited discussion about virus survival on environmental
surfaces). Thank you.
