I forget to place in our procedure that 5 hours before the "harvesting" of
our cells we also add monensin (2.5um) to allow for the accumulation of
the cytokines. Keep in mind, cytokines like IL-1b do not have a signla
sequence and therefore do not traffic through the golgi and monensin does
not allow for the build up of this cytokine.
