I came across an unusual phenomenon today whilst separating human PBMC from
whole blood over Ficoll Hypaque. After removing the buffy layer and spinning
it down the supernatant appeared to solidify. I was unable to recover any
cells from this prep. The supernatant contained serum and MEM alpha medium.
The serum from the sample (taken separately) was very cloudy. Does anyone
have any suggestions as to why this should happen.
