Katherine, what are you trying to accomplish?  I know microwave treatment is 
one way of uncovering ags for staining and there are other ways. both zymed 
and vector sell a citrate buffer that (i think) is used as a hot water bath 
treatment for the same purpose.

If your sections are falling off other approaches are treated slides with a 
number of things I've used poly-l-lysine (ok) and cell-tak (better) now i use 
super frost plus slides (good).

Permeabilizations that i know of have used saponin, coulter and BD sell 
solutions, you can also make your own the reference is B. Sander et 
al,mImmunol. Rev. 1991, #119 p65
