Heya,
I've been trying to actively research more into brewers/bakers yeast
allergy, mostly using medline and current contents databases.
There's very little information out thee, and I haven't found a lot on
any of the allergy support networks I've seen, or on national allergy
centre databases.
Specifically, I'd like to know the specific allergens involved, where
identified. (I've seen a bit of work from Finland about yeast mannans
as possible allergens) I'd also like to know about
specificity/cross-reactivity between these allergens and other
yeast/fungal proteins or haptens.
Does anyone have a good source, journal paper, review or website that
would be a good place to start? I have a decent grounding in
immunology (I'm a microbiology graduate) and I'm probably going to
delve into biological abstracts for more detail sometime soon .. just
looking for leads at present. It's been hard to filter out Candida as
a search term, it tends to confound a lot of the database searches
I've been doing online - I can cope with this a little better with the
hard copy of BA =).
