> Positions immediately available to study the recognition of
> nonpeptide antigens by human gd T cells (Nature 1995; 375:155, Immunity
> 1995; 3:495). We find that small, nonpeptide prenyl pyrophosphates
> produced by bacteria and tumor cells stimulate human Vg2Vd2+ T cells.
>
> Areas of study include (1) the identification of a novel antigen
> presenting protein for this new class of antigens, (2) purification and
> identification of new nonpeptide antigens from Mycobacteria and other
> bacteria and tumor cells, (3) determination of contact residues in the
> Vg2Vd2 T cell receptor, and (4) characterization of an in vivo monkey
> model to determine the biological effects of gd T cells.
>
> A wide variety of background experiences are welcome including
> cellular and molecular immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, and
> organic chemistry. The lab is well funded and is located in a state of
> the art research facility with new equipment and an excellent educational
> environment.
