The latest Merck Manual (17th Edition) has some interesting information.
In the section on "Coronary Artery Disease" on page 1660 the following
sentences appear:
"Serum vitamin E levels are inversely correlated with incidence
of cardiovascular mortality, and supplementation with vitamin E
800 IU/day has been shown to decrease the incidence of MI".
"Although it has not been shown to decrease the risk of heart
disease, supplementation with vitamin C 250 to 500 mg bid
increases the antioxidant properties of vitamin E".
