CD 19 antibodies

Hello all,

When you do flow cytometry or cell sorting using anti-CD19 antibodies
as a pan B cell marker ... does this antibody activate and crosslink the
CD19 molecule on the B cells??

and would this crosslinking have an effect upon mature recirculating B
cells in the absence of anti-Ig stimulation.

I'm thinking about raising an antibody against rabbit CD19 and wanted to
know if polyclonal anti-CD19 would have any effects on the B-cells as
they were sorted using this antibody... if they are all going to undergo
apoptosis using polyclonal serum, I would need to make monoclonal
antibodies and screen them for clones which do not activate CD19 ...
anyone using anti-CD19 (mouse or human) or have any thoughts?

thanks..

Paul
