Two postdoctoral positions are currently available in the laboratory
of Dr.Jingwen Liu at Palo Alto VA Medical Center, Palo Alto,
California.
The research program involves understanding the biological functions
of the
cytokine oncostatin M in breast cancer. Specific projects include:
(1)
Identification of the signaling pathways that transduce the growth
inhibitory signal in breast cancer cells; (2) Library screening of
novel
substrates of MAP kinase; (3) Characterization of the cis-acting
elements
and the trans-acting factors that control c-myc gene transcription in
breast
cancer cells.
Research experience in gene transcription, promoter analysis, and
protein
purification are required. Knowledge and experience in purification
of DNA
binding proteins and yeast two hybride system are plus.
Palo Alto VA Medical Center, affiliated with Stanford University, has
one of
the largest research programs among VA hospital nationwide. Our
research
facility is State of the Art, including PhosphoImager, Microarray, DNA
autosequencer, and FACS.
