AIDS.ORG Seeks Support to Create Best Internet Guide to AIDS Information
(LOS ANGELES - Nov. 29, 2000) -- AIDS.ORG Inc. has obtained its
501(c)(3) educational nonprofit status and is currently seeking
donations and volunteer assistance to create the definitive Internet
directory to guide readers to the best AIDS information available
on the Web.
People can help by making donations and/or completing a volunteer
application online at http://www.aids.org.
There are hundreds of sites on the World Wide Web with HIV or AIDS
information. These Web sites range from quality information from
regional AIDS organizations and the government to highly slanted
information from fringe political groups. The information is there,
but can be hard to find; and once located, it may be difficult to
tell if it is up to date and accurate.
AIDS.ORG will combine human input from AIDS-knowledgeable people
with innovative programming to create this guide, which will be
made available to the public worldwide using an easy interface
available at the AIDS.ORG Web site.
"If you think of the Internet as a library, AIDS.ORG will become
the reference librarian that guides you to the best AIDS and HIV
information," according to Gary W. Schaff, president of AIDS.ORG.
