POST-DOCTORAL AND RESEARCH TECHNICIAN POSITIONS IN
STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY AVAILABLE FOR BIOCHEMISTS
A research technician position is available immediately to assist
in molecular biology and protein expression/purification efforts for
protein crystallography purposes. Applicants should have experience in
molecular biology and/or protein expression/purification. The lab
is well equipped with the tools for bacterial, yeast, and mammalian cell
culture protein expression. In addition, we have BIOCAD Sprint, FPLC,
and AKTA-FPLC purification systems.
This position offers also a unique opportunity to learn new state-of-
the-art structural biology techniques such as crystallization,
data-collection and more if interested.
In addition, post-doctoral opportunities for biochemists who have
an interest in structural biology are available as well. The successful
applicants will join a strong and internationally recognized Structural
Biology Center (see van den Akker et al. Nature 406, 101-104, 2000) that
is aiming to be at the forefront in this genomics age of research.
The aim of the project in the lab is to elucidate the molecular mechanism
of several guanylyl cyclase coupled receptors which are involved in a
variety of physiological processes such as blood pressure regulation and
photo adaptation in cones and rods.
The successful candidate should have experience with handling proteins
in particular their over-expression and purification. The applicant
should also have an interest in structural biology and a desire to
learn protein crystallography but experience is not required.
Our laboratories are located in state-of-the-art facilities in the Lerner
Research Institute and are fully equipped for E. coli, yeast, and
mammalian cell protein expression, protein purification, X-ray diffraction
