The CDC keeps saying that the 1999-2000 flu season wasn't unusual, but a
chart from their website looks different to me. Look at:

This chart shows "Pneumonia and Influenza Mortality for 122 U.S. Cities (up
to the)
Week Ending 11/04/00".
The spike for last season looks pretty big to me.
