POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS available to study prenyl pyrophosphate antigens
(Nature 375:155, Immunity 3:495, Immunity 14:331, Immunity 15:83) and
CD1-lipid antigens (Nature 360:593, JEM 191:937) for human gd T cells and
chemotaxis and adhesion of gd T cells.
Areas of study include studies on the cellular and molecular basis for
phosphoantigen and CD1 recognition by gd T cells, identification of a novel
phosphoantigen presenting protein, purification and identification of
phosphoantigens and lipid antigens from bacteria, parasites, or tumors,
identification of novel enzymes that synthesize phosphoantigens, and studies
on the unique chemotaxis and adhesion of gd T cells.

The lab is located in a state of the art research facility with new
equipment and an excellent educational environment. We have weekly lab and
interlab and a journal club. The University of Iowa is one of the top
public medical schools (#9 in NIH funding, #29 overall in the country) and
hospitals in the US. Its Rheumatology division is ranked #30 in the nation.
Besides the good academic environment, Iowa City has a very good living
environment with college activities, a new mall, good recreation centers,
good public schools, and an extremely low crime rate. Housing is very
affordable. The cost of living is low.
