macrophage marker

Right, CD68 is expressed generally in all cells of the monocytic
lineage. It's expressed INTRAcellularly, so you have to permeabilize
cells for staining in flow cytometry.

For Macrophages presumably the Macrophage-mannose receptor is a good
marker. It is not expressed on monocytes but can be detected after 4
days culture in teflon bags with GM-CSF.
It can also be detected on cultured dendritic cells generated with
GM-CSF and IL-6. It has been clustered as CD206 recently.
