Arthritis models

Greetings:

An academic question: a discussion came up about murine arthritis
models and amongst a few of us we could only find the DBA/1 strain being
used for such studies. Is it because they are especially prone to the
disease after treatment? This would imply that other strains are not as
sensitive as the DBA/1, true? This begged the question of looking at
various immune components through the use of various "knock-out" mice
and left us wondering if the knock-outs would have to be (if >F10 on a
C57/BL6 background) bred (again) onto a "sensitive" background?

Any thoughts?

David
