Post-Doctoral Position, Vaccine Development
An experienced immunologist is required to join a project funded under
the EU Framework 5 programme, in collaboration with laboratories in
Denmark, Holland, Norway and the United Kingdom. The project aims to
develop new vaccines against viral pathogens of fish by determining
the peptide binding motifs of Salmon MHC class I molecules. The
post-doctoral scientist, based at the National Diagnostic Centre will
be responsible for determining MHC class I peptide binding motifs from
transfected eukaryotic cells.
Applicants for this position should possess a PhD or at least 4 years'
relevant post-graduate research. Experience in protein expression and
purification is essential, as is a thorough knowledge of HPLC.
Experience in mass spectrometry will be a distinct advantage.
The National Diagnsotics Centre is one of five university based
centres of BioResearch Ireland engaged in the commercialisation of
biotechnology research in Ireland. The Centre personnel have
expertise in recombinant DNA, molecular biology, biochemical and
immunological techniques. Active research is being undertaken in the
fields of immunodiagnostics, DNA-based diagnostics, gene regulation
and expression, particularly genes involved in the regulation of the
immune system in Salmon.
