So true... the probability that the cytokines will bind to receptors is
decreased in the method shown. You are very observant!
Here's another thought to add to the puzzle. There are 80 (or so) known
amino acids in the world. Yet, humans use only 20 of them. I would be
curious if the remaining 60 amino acids are antigens to humans, and if
animals such as chickens, cows, and mice carry any of those 60.
Regarding the tiff format for the patents, I forgot to mention there is a
good way to visualize and print the tiffs! Sorry about that! The USPTO
recommends a free tiff reader to download. The problem with using QuickTime
(my version at least) is that I cannot print the individual tiffs from the
web browser. The other problem I faced is that whenever I opened a
QuickTime file, the default tiff reader for my browser became QuickTime. I
therefore had to rerun my installer for my tiff reader. Such a pain.
You can also order PDF files from the USPTO. They can send the files via
email.
