The University Clinics of Cologne

The Centre for Biochemistry is looking for several highly motivated PhD
students for third party funded projects:

.	Molecular mechanisms of cartilage diseases
.	Cell surface associated inflammation and coagulation processes
.	Extracellular matrix - immune system interactions
.	Biochemical analysis of extracellular matrix proteins

The students will join a team of highly enthusiastic researchers with a
focus on extracellular matrix, chondrogenesis and mesenchymal cell
differentiation. A profound biochemical and molecular biology knowledge of
the team will be of benefit for the students and provide the basis to
successfully develop the project. The research projects are associated with
the collaborative research centres SFB 829, CMMC and CECAD as well as with
the graduate school for biological science. This will guarantee a
systematic, structured education and support specific laboratory and generic
"soft" skills. The student will be encouraged to collaborate with different
groups within the collaborative research centres and our international
colleagues.

The positions are initially available for 3 years and will begin in
August/September 2011. Candidates should have an excellent exam, master or
diploma degree in the fields of natural science and a background in
molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology or cell biology. Applications
should include a recent curriculum vitae, cover letter, undergraduate and
diploma/master certificates, potential publications, summary of
master/diploma thesis, and contacts for references from previous research
supervisors.
