how to crosslink dna binding proteins?

Hi all,
First let me apologize if i'm not using the right terminology. I'm a 
physical chemist doing his first steps in biology....
I would like to react CAP protein to a piece of DNA with a specific 
binding site, and then cross link and purify so that  I can deposit it 
on a surface and image it with an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM).
Can someone point out a simple but efficient crosslinking and 
purification method?
