Fungal RNA isolation

hi Josh ,
i got some problem while isolating RNA from fungus.
As I already read ur suggestion to increase Trizole concentration but
what is reason that RNA is isolated some time and get degradede other time.
And How does Powder forms while grinding fungal culture in Mortar and
pestle.
Can u plz help me out..
I am using Hot Phenol method for this....
