Photo printer for gel documentation

Our department is doing some reshuffling, and we're going to be losing
access to the BioRad gel documentation system we've been using. We do
have a Kodak EDAS-290 system, which is basically just a DC-290 camera, a
hood, and a UV light table hooked to a PC. It takes great images, but
we need a good way to print them.

Our HP photosmart 2575 doesn't quite cut it compared to the mitsubishi
p91 on the old system. Of course the p91 is a fancy thermal video
printer that runs about $1500. We don't really need video so that's
overkill anyway. I could really use some suggestions for some high
quality grayscale photo printers that don't cost an arm and a leg. Bonus
points for linux compatibility. Thanks all!
