Greetings. I am an undergraduate Psychology major here at Southern Il.
University. In a class the other day, drugs were being discussed, and
this reminded me of something I had heard about marijuana having a
certain effect upon the neuron struture...specifically, smoking
or using marijuana will increase the synaptic distance, or "stretch" the
synapse. In this class, the average distance between an axon and dendrite
was listed as a range, not a set number. Can anyone here who is highly
informed give me more information about the implications of this?
I think the original data came from some experiments done about 2
years ago.
Thanks,
Curt Wilson
