Hello!
This is an answer to a girl that asked about insulin and optimal effect
of it after injection (2nd of December). We made an experiment with insulin
and rats in a lab-course in zoophysiology. We anestezised and injected 0,3
ml insulin per 100 g into a number of rats. In a control-group, we injected
1 ml of saline water into each rat. After 30 minutes we took out blood from
the rats heart and measured the glucose-consentration. The results were quite
diverse, but in average the rats that were treated with insulin, had a
glucose-consentration of 3,3 mmol/liter (varied from 1,9 to 8,0). The
control-group had a level much higher: 9,4 mmol/liter blood (varied from 4,0
to 17,5). Some of the values might be too high because of mistakes in the
measure.
Hope this can help you.
Sincerely
Anne Karin Amundgaard
