In article <3cj4i5$p00 at netaxs.com>, swallow at netaxs.com (The Queen) writes:

>I have read in books about the possibility of using the adrenal glands to

produce dopamine to help parkinson's patients. The book I just finished
was written a few years ago, just when the treatment was being tested.

I have not seen any more up to date books, so could somebody tell me if
these treatments were sucessful in many people? Could somebody point me
to a net resource, or book for more information? Thanks for your time.

The adrenal transplants had high morbidity and limited success. They have
been superseded by fetal transplants (not favored by Pro-Life groups), and
the latter in turn by pallidotomies guided by neurophysiological
recording. The latter produce near-miraculous improvement within 60
seconds of producing a lesion in the globus pallidus.
