Learning while you sleep?

My daughter is planning to do a science project on learning while you
sleep and needs to find some published references. Does anyone know of any?
She is in the 7th grade, but more technical references are also welcome (I
also find this to be an interesting subject). Also, as part of the project she
must design and perform experiment to test the concept. She has some ideas
about how to go about this, but published experiments may help her to avoid
some of the pitfalls.

Thanks in advance,
