`g' is basically a concept developed in psychology to explain the tendency for
performance on cognitive tests to be fairly highly correlated with each other
regardless of what aspect of cognition they are measuring. that is, people
who score high on one cognitive test tend to score high on lots of other
cognitive tests as well...people who score low one cognitive test tend score
low on other cognitive tests.
the `g' refers to a `general' intelligence factor on cognitive tests.
