Postdoctoral and Graduate Student Positions
University of British Columbia.
Using an approach which combines calcium imaging and patch clamp recording of miniature
excitatory synaptic currents (Science 263: 529-532, 1994; Neuron 15: 159-168, 1995), we have
recorded synaptic responses from single identified synapses. Future experiments will be directed
towards simultaneously imaging pre and postsynaptic function at a single synapse to evaluate
factors that control release probability in central neurons. Excellence in electrophysiology or
imaging is desired. The University exercises a Canadian-first policy, however non-Canadians are
encouraged to apply. Positions are available immediately, although those who have not yet
completed their training can apply in advance.
