Not if you believe Roger Penrose and others who are proposing a new
quantum mechanical basis for consciousness (unless, of course, in the 
future the entire net consists of suitable quantum computers...).  Post
this question on alt.consciousness and I think you'll get an interesting
response from Jack Sarfatti, a major Penrose supporter.
