Hello:
Research into the fields of sensory deprivation and psychedelic/mystical
states have generated much literature. Unfortunately, much of this work is
dated, and its scientific validity questionable.
We are currently interested in pursuing research in the field of sensory
deprivation, and its relations to the mystical experience and alternate
brain states. I am a senior medical student and my partner is a
neurosciences graduate student. We would like to discuss these topics, and
potential solid research projects that can be developed from these varied
disciplines.
Any literature or personal experience (especially where we can find
equipment useful in this endeavor) would be greatly appreciated.
Much of this type of work was dropped back in the 60's, probably the
result of changing social and scientific attitudes. We feel that within
these seemingly disparate disciplines, a coherent study of conciousness
can emerge.
