The Clostridial neurotoxin, botulinum, is a zinc endoprotease that cleaves
synaptobrevin (VAMP) in cholinergic neurons. Synaptobrevin is a vesicle
docking protein; it essential for vesicle fusion with the presynaptic
membrane and neurotransmitter release. See Gordon Shepherd's Neurobiology
