Francis Crick (as in Watson and Crick) wrote an interesting paper on
dreams, published in 'Nature' in 1985 (?). Sorry, I can't be more
specific, but I'm sure if you do a lit search on Crick, it'll come
up. It mentioned some of the brain activity (impulses from the pons
to cortex) and his theory of it.
