Not necessarily. A very small proportion of type-1 astrocytes isolated
from rat optic nerve express A2B5 in culture, and many type-1's can
up-regulate this marker with extended culture. A2B5 doesn't work properly
on sections (unless you inject A2B5 hybridomas into the animal before
sacrifice), and GFAP can be expressed at very low levels in vivo.
