Quantum mechanics and brain

Indeed.  I believe this union of quantum mechanics and neuroscience
was proposed by a physicist, though.  Just why quantum mechanics are
needed to understand the relationship between neural systems and
consciousness is not clear to me -- we know so little about complex
neural systems, so why should we add quantum mechanics to the soup?
There's absolutely no empirical evidence to justify even considering
it.  But I suppose that if you're a famous physicist, you can write
a book about anything and get it published. (sorry for the sarcasm)
