I was surprised the Primetime show last night did not go into the possible
problems in greater detail. The area in question is very close to the
optic nerve and I recall problems with a few patients going blind in one
eye.
My question is, what are the effects of over-lesioning the pallidum.
Insufficient lesions will obviously leave some Parkinsonian symtoms, by
what if you destroy too many inhibitory nuerons? I don't believe it causes
motor problems, but I'm not sure. Also wondering about the behavioral
effects of mucking about with these seretonergic neurons.
Comments and answers appreciated, e-mail or public.
