While it is true that some exchange may take place between the tritium
on the ring and the aqueous environment, this should not cause a significant
problem in your uptake experiments if you employ the appropriate blanks.
If the exchange has taken place prior to adding it to your samples, you
can evaporate a sample of the tritiated NA before using it. You could, infact,
use 14C-NA as well, but depending on specific radioactivities and the
concentration that you desire, you may be limited to tritium.
