David Lovinger and colleagues have shown that concentrations of ethanol
likely to be found in the drunken brain reduce NMDA receptor-mediated
currents. As the NMDA receptor is implicated in many forms of long term
potentiation (a candidate for the mechanism of memory), this seems like a
promising avenue for you to follow up on. Try a medline search for
Lovinger and/or Forrest Weight.
